I really need to post up more Cowboy Bebop music, soooo happy that I found someone at UT eng that shares my love for the OST!

Met up with Patricia yesterday ;D
Went to an impromptu skin care/make-up consultation from Mary Kay. The lady was really bubbly and nice haha, contrary to our initial skeptism (direct sales are always sketchy seeming at first @_@). Their liquid foundation is really good, though I ended up bringing a lip mask home. Speaking of sales, I got called from Vector Marketing few days ago asking me to go in for an interview (referred by a friend). They are also a direct marketing company, except for (apparently really good) cutlery. Slightly sad that I had to pass up on the opportunity due to busy engineering schedule, would have gotten a high hourly rate and sales experience.
Back on topic, had fun catching up with Patricia over dinner. Gossiped, talked about future aspirations, listed ideals for guys... my conservations with people usually stay within these categories haha. She has everything figured out :]
We were also lamenting that we have not seen the shads since foreeeeever! It's hard to believe that it's already been more than a year. Harder to believe that no one organized an anniversary meet-up, well not really, they're all probably too busy being keeners, or traveling back to China xD
Coincidentally I got a message from Ramya when I got home haha. And Katie always randomly posts sweet messages :]

Found almost a complete scan of the Honey & Clover artbook on animepaper yesterday. Therefore I ended up spending way too long at night making some scans into wallpapers. Here's one that turned out pretty well:
Original scan, evidently I didn't change much haha.
Mostly cloned some of the stars and had a bunch of layers with blending modes. Current obsession is with screen/colour dodge layers, it makes the colours all pretty and shiny *u*

Dark Knight Rises
I would totally transfer over to mechatronics if I got to work for Wayne Enterprise's R&D >_>" The Bat, the nuclear reactor (which is impossible), the wheels on Batman's motorcycle! The wheeeeeels! It's like a reverse gyroscope, it can spin in any eratic fashion while the motorcycle body remains stable. Also Anne Hathaway looks hot riding it :] Joseph Gordon-Levitt just looks hot, always.
So there were good action scenes, really nice far shots of Gotham City, and such touching dialog ;A; Lucius Fox and Albert. Omg especially Alfred, I literally teared up every time he spoke to Bruce Wayne. Though it was obvious that (SPOILER, though I must be the last person to watch the movie) Wayne was alive with the extensive scenes after the detonation. Did not expect the plot twist at all though, also confused as to how Miranda and Wayne got together so quickly (wasn't he hung up on Rachael all this time?)
One scene that was great is the one with the boy singing the Gotham (?) anthem on the football field. The contrast between his rather angelic voice and Bane standing there in the shadow is really effective.
3 hours well spent :]
and now I wait for Skyfall.

A pleasant surprise on the balcony:
Two morning glory stalks just randomly popped up in our pot. Mom suspects that the seeds were mixed up in the soil, I'm just happy that we have more flowers ;D I actually really like morning glories, had them growing on my balcony ever since I was a little kiddie.

The one on the left also randomly appeared. No clue what species it is, looks similar to carnations? The one on the right is my mom's baby, a epiphyllun I think? She spent the entire evening out on the balcony waiting for it to open xD

selling price
The blue skies today reminded me that I still need to post an overview of my China vacation. How so? Because such blue skies do not exist in China, high levels of smog makes it impossible for a clear blue sky to exist even on a sunny day.
Some other obvious difference between Canada and China:
I was surprised to find that in ChengDu, department store clothing are really expensive. Shirts normally are priced in the three digits (RMB, of course)! Kids clothing are especially expensive, my little cousin was gifted a $900 dress e_e"
Unfortunately, the humidity completely killed my appetite. Don't think I've ever finished a meal while eating out, all the delicious uneaten food ;A; I also severely underestimated the filling-ness of sweet drinks, one milk tea at 5 and I won't be hungry till 9.
It was also nice to see my relatives again, especially my cousins *u*
My elder cousin qualifies as one of the nicest people I've ever met (up there at Grace level). Ever since we were young, she'd let me take first pick at the lego pieces that I wanted to play with. This trip, she bussed all the way from her campus to the Great Wall to show us around. I didn't really appreciate this gesture until on the way back, when she was still waiting to get on the bus after we've arrived back in BeiJing city by car.
My younger cousin is hilarious xD She has so many funny stories about her that my aunt would take hours calling my mom about them every single week. One highlight that my aunt told me was about the boys in her class. They're in 5th grade and yet so...progressive? (durr not the most accurate word). The boys are planning to have a confession party after their class' graduation ceremony next year. Upon hearing about this, all the parents freaked out, but finally devised a plan to take a photo of any successful confessions for remembrance. My cousin, on the other hand, is pretty innocent and naive. She immediately defriends anyone that flirts with her on this online QQ game that she plays xD
Other random highlights include watching the Olympics opening ceremony live with my grandparents and my dad's amazement at my aunt's haggling skills. He firmly told me to shop with my aunt more often after hearing about this extremely cheap pair of shoes that I bought haha.
Some other obvious difference between Canada and China:
- Amount of people (and consequently cars). I can actually walk down a small road without having cars parked on all sides of it. Also jay walking is a lot safer here.
- Taxes. It just makes sense for taxes to be included in the price of the item, what you see should be what you pay.
- Humidity levels. While it's pretty hot under the direct sun here, even the worst heat waves are rather bearable in the shade. Not so much in China, humidity will make you feel like you were sweating buckets even in the low 30s.
- Public transportation. TTC sucks, relatively and absolutely. HK metro stations are HUGE, as in spanning several large blocks. Signage are more detailed and ticketing system is a lot better (esp. octopus cards, love them). Taxis are a viable (read: cheap) method of getting around too (just not in BeiJing, due to the difficulty of hailing one "orz).
- Sasa and 7-Eleven (this is local to HK). There's one on every block, sometimes more than one on every block. Sooo convenient! Really should have bought another eyeliner.

pantry
I was under the impression that I enjoyed cooking. I still find the task enjoyable (minus the clean up afterwards), but my laziness overpowers any initiative to cook anything beyond the very basic dishes.
(on second thought, most of my interests fall under this category. Perfect word for this is velleity).
Case and point:
2 meals from pretty much the same ingredients. With the exception of the seasoning and type of noodle, both is made with tomatoes, spinach, and eggs.
They're my staple ingredients for whenever I need to cook for myself haha. Eggs can be cooked a million different ways, spinach is a really simple vegetable to prepare and can be added to almost everything, and tomato can be sprinkled with sugar and eaten as dessert. Though supermarket ones really suck, they're hard and flavourless e_e" Can't wait for the day when I can splurge on fresh farmer's market ones.
On a related note, I'd be rather content with having dark chocolate as the only dessert/snack for the rest of my life. The slight bitterness make it easy to eat one too many squares at a time. Really should have bought more Meiji chocolate in China.

On an unrelated note, I finally watched Annie Hall.
Although 500 Days of Summer is based on it, I find the they have very different vibes. 500 Days is more centered on Tom and his perspective of the relationship, while Annie Hall is both Alvy and Annie's story. Annie also has more of a legitimate reason to be dissatisfied with her relationship than Summer. Lastly, the characters in Annie Hall feels more mature (technically they are older) than their 500 Days counterpart. Alvy acknowledges his problems but just refuses to change (not the best example of mature), whereas Tom feels like he's just waking up to the reality.
annnnnd Alvy's apartment has really awesoem decor. Love the lamp, the carpet, and how the bed is not pushed up against a wall *u*

Back at my shad internship, except this time as a part-time remote worker. No more waking up ridiculously early (sans the next 2 mondays in August)!
On top of learning more about the engineering industry, I will have discretionary income again. Perhaps enough to order a bespoke leather satchel from The Leather Satchel Co. Thinking of the 14" in black, monogrammed with a briefcase handle *u* Hope it can be a Christmas present to myself, that or a nice wallet (maybe similar to this, so hard to find a simple and slim wallet).

gyros
Interlude of catching up on life before I finally decide not to be lazy and make a vacation roundup post.
First and foremost, just got back from The Taste of Danforth with Janice, Mel and Grace. We should make it a tradition to go every year, so you guys better be in Toronto next august!
We had pork souvlaki, gryos, gelato (lemon and grapefruit, so refreshing!) and ice tea (not pictured). They are really filling, counts as lunch and dinner all in one haha.
Secondly, my long standing wish finally fulfilled:
Ordered the Honey & Clover artbook on ebay before I left for China, and arrived home with it perfectly placed on the coffee table *u* It's gorgeous inside, such a heartwarming feeling flipping through the pages. Mighhhht scan the pages, but that's gonna ruin the spine of the book and the images are easily available online @_@
And now that I'm back, there's a whole slew of university related tasks to be done. Most importantly pay tuition (oh engineering & chestnut, you kill my bank account ;_;), and second most importantly, move into dorms.
Chestnut has a stupid system in which you don't know your roommate until you both move in, making it impossible to coordinate who's bringing what between the two of you. I praaaaaay that she is gonna bring a TV, Okami HD is coming out in the fall!
There's also the issue of decoration. I actually have a planned sketched out according to the tiny photos available online, but will wait till I go for a visit (and measure the dimensions) to finalize. So far it involves a loooot of storage bins.
Lastly, this is from a looooong time ago, but too good to not put it up here as well:
